Over 60 Years of Community Service

Established in 1955, Southside Little League (SSLL) is one of the oldest and most successful youth baseball organizations in Chicago. With the ongoing dedication and commitment of our parents, volunteers, and community partners, SSLL has:

•  Maintained a roster of more than 400 players over a 20 year period

•  A current roster of 100 players in all divisions of little league play including the recently added junior league and girls softball

•  Won numerous District and State Tournament Championships

•  A notable alumni roster of community and business leaders as well as former MLB players. Dorian Boyland (Pirates); Marvell Wynne (Royals, Pirates, Padres, Cubs); Melvin Barrows (drafted by the Rangers); and DeMarlo Hale (drafted by the Red Sox).

•  Provided player sponsorship for families in need

•  Deep-rooted relationships with Chicago Park District supervisors who fully support the league in all of our endeavors

•  Been honored to meet President George W. and First Lady Laura Bush and play an exhibition game on the White House lawn

South Side Little League offers 60 years of youth baseball experience and commitment to children ages 4 to 16.  Our current roster includes more than 200 players in all divisions of play including Pee-Wee, Rookie, Minor, Major, Junior, and Girls Softball. In fact, SSLL registration numbers increased in 2016, the first increase in the last three years.

As a community anchor, SSLL routinely partners with other not-for-profit organizations to support and advance recreation, safety and education.  Some of SSLL current partners include First Step, the Police Athletic Association, and Gary Comer College Prep Middle School (GCMS).  The SSLL and GCMS partnership is now in the third year of a 5-year agreement.
